Welcome to the Orators’ Forum
Being a Provincial or District Grand Orator can be a lonely office and you may feel at times like you are pushing water uphill.
Whilst there is a growing interest in the philosophy of Freemasonry, fuelled in some part by Dan Brown’s book ‘The Lost Symbol’, there are still many Freemasons who believe that Freemasonry is just about raising money for charity or having a good meal with friends. They are of course wrong. Charity and brotherly love are but a by product of Freemasonry and are just two of the three pillars of Freemasonry which are ‘Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.’ It is ‘Truth’ which is the true nature and cornerstone of the philosophy of Freemasonry and which we as Orators must try to awaken in our Brethren.
Unfortunately for us, there is no ‘idiot's guide’ on how to explain truth as the path to truth is a personal journey for each person to discover for himself. Hopefully, this Forum will enable you to ask those questions that you always wanted to ask and by awakening truth in yourselves you will find it easier to communicate it to others.
No one is the expert and no one holds all the answers but it is only by asking the questions and participating in the debate that we will develop our minds and discover the true nature of Freemasonry.
